Default hypothyroidism ?

Hi

I'm new to this forum My Name is Pete I've been on this diet for three weeks but have not noticed very much difference in weight.I do feel better though, not as tired all the time. well my concern is this I have hypothyroidism just slightly to where I have to take medication. has my weight loss been stumped by this ? I also read where someone mention they are not dinking diet rite during induction phase. will diet rite effect your weight loss during this phase? thanks

Default hypo

I am a newbie and so am limited in my knowledge but I am also hypothyroid and take Synthroid. I have read that even with meds it is harder for us to lose...
I don't know about diet rite but there are certain foods that do inhibit thyroid function and metabolism. They contain a substance does this. I wish I could remember which book I read this list in!
But I do remember that my endo said that soy products were definitely something to abvoid as they hinder med effectiveness and weight loss for hypo people. Even soybean oil.

but we/ll get there!

Hey!

I am another hypo and have lost weight on Atkins-probably slower than many people, but it does happen. The thing with being hypo is that we must get some kind of activity in our routine.

Hey-

Have you visited this site?

http://thyroid.about.com/mbody.htm

It is full of information about the thyroid and there is also a section on weight loss.

I was hypo for years until I had to have my thyroid removed in 1999. Still on Synthroid of course but I haven't noticed any trouble in losing so far. 15 pounds off in 19 days! Of course I just started and it will slow down. In any case, this is a healthier way to live, period, weight loss is only one of the benefits.
