Default Serving Sizes?!?

What are serving sizes for eggs, meat, cottage cheese? How many for each meal? I know that they cannot be unlimited just because they contain no carbs? Thanks for any help!!

Servig sizes are: Whatever it takes to make you feel full, but not overstuffed. Especially in the induction period. Once off the iduction period, continue the same way. Just watch to make sure you stop when full.

just dont eat a lot to make you feel like your binging.....i did that so many times and ended up feeling horrible. Just a couple orf eggs is a serving size, few slices of cheese, or a few things of meat. Mix it up with other things and eat enough, not too much
Good Luck!!

So, 2 eggs maybe? Do you do whole eggs or some whole, some whites? I am used to a lower fat diet, also lower carb, but around 100 g's daily, not 20.

Do you have the Book??? Are you trying to do Atkins?
Eggs, cottage cheese do have carbs, Cottage cheese is not allowed during induction.

Yes I have the book. (Atkins) Maybe I should re-read it
What about meat? Poulty? Fish?
I was thinking that the carbs in the eggs were pretty minimal, so maybe 2 eggs for a serving? Thanks again!

I eat 3 or 4 eggs for breakfast, but I don't eat any bacon or anything else with it. For lunch I usually consume veggies and around 8 ounces of meat. For dinner I usually have around 10 to 14 ounces of meat and veggies. I am not a snacker like some are, nor do I ever eat desert.

If you want to do Atkins, you use the whole egg, both egg white and egg yolk. You have to realize, when you pretty much cut carbs out of your diet (not no carbs, just refined carbs like sugar, flour, and starch), you have to replace it with something. That something is fat. Skin on chicken, heavy whipping cream, full-fat mayo, avocados, real butter, olive oil, etc. It will be difficult to do at first given the low-fat/low-cal school of thought that has been pounded into our heads since day 1, but it works! You can't try to increase the protein component, because excess protein consumed turns into fat stored on the body. Happy LCing!!!

I wanted to add, since you wanted to re-read the book, to take a look at the list of acceptable foods for Induction. Cheese is limited to 3-4 oz. daily and pay special attention to the limits placed on "Special Category Foods." Remember, balsamic vinegar contains sugar. http://atkinscenter.com/Archive/2001/12/15-464579.html Happy LCing!!!

Default It all depends

I try for realistic portions, but I've always had a volume control problem.

Chicken -I take whatever amount is comfortable. Prob up to 10oz
Steak/Roast- I try to limit to 8 oz. Cutting a portion of steak out to cook for next am breakfast.
Eggs two for a meal one for a snack.
Cheese and nuts-don't go there too hard to stick to a limit.
Its amazing to me that I leave food on my plate-full before I finish what I cook.

Read what is on the package. It will tell you the serving size. It is important to know the serving sizes or how else will you know how many carbs you are ingesting. If you'd like you can have more than one serving but know what that serving size is. I don't count calories or fats. I count only carbs but I watch my servings so that iI can count carbs and I do not overeat.
