Unhappy Constipation

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with constipation. I checked Dr. Atkins and have tried one of his suggestion but with little relief.

Has anyone experienced this condition and what has worked for you.

Now I am having the opposite effect since last night....

For a quick fix, try a very large dose of vitamin C -- 6 grams or more -- and stay close to home! It usually works within a few hours.

Increased fiber works, but it takes time and you have to drink lots of water with it. Insufficient water can cause your fiber (flax, psyllium, whatever) to have the opposite of the desired effect.

I mix a heaping teaspoon of psyllium fiber in a glass of water twice a day. It works for me. If you use pure psyllium fiber, make sure you also drink plenty of water.

Default Stuffed-up, oh yeh.

With all the cheese, being bunged up is a natural thing. I have found a wonderful product at my local super market called "SMOOTHE MOVE" (No Really!) LOL It is a very pleasant senna based tea and it is delightful tasting and gently effective, usually within 12 to 18 hours. Moves things along very nicely. I only use it when I need it and it usually just takes a single cup and it's no nonger a proble.

My remedy for this is an Atkins shake very early every morning. My son is up for his morning bottle and I sip my 'formula too!

I had a terrible problem with this once, last year and I swore at that time I would never have that problem again. What an uncomfortable thing!

The three things in low carbing that people get deficient in is potassium, calcium and magnesium because of all the water loss. They are all interdependent with each other as well. Being deficient in potassium causes leg cramps and tiredness, deficiency in calcium can cause muscle spasms and deficiency in magnesium can cause constipation. Try supplementing magnesium daily to help get you regular again. 250 mg to 500 mg(one or two small pills) should be plenty. I personally haven't had success with fiber and ever since I started taking 250 mg of magnesium a day I haven't had a single problem.

Good Luck!!

Drink more water......64 ounces a day MINIMUM! Also, try and eat some veggies at each meal to keep things moving. A little exercise also keeps you going as well. I have no gall bladder so I think the fats keep me regular too.

Red face Psyllium Husks

Lovely Subject,

Seven weeks lowcarbing made me feel
OK I had read about Psyllium Husk, and after trying everything else, water increase, dietry fiber and excercise with little effect I bought some four days ago, capsuals 2 with a glass of water one hour before meals.
The result:-
great this stuff really works, its a great source of soluble fibre.
It was a bit expensive but waited till they had an offer on, buy one get one free.
I would recommend this product hope this information is helpfull.
