Hi Mikey -

The Swartzbein Plan itself is not complicated but it would not be easy to explain in a short message. The link below will take you to a short review of the plan, I think it explains it much better than I could.

Hope that helps you somewhat.

CARBS. Schwarzbein advocates many more HEALTHY carbs than Atkins.

Another big difference is Atkins suggests a lot of artificial sweeteners Schwarzbein suggests natural sweeteners such as stevia.

Schwarzbein is very balanced.

Hi Mike:

I don't think a WOL can get any healthier. The ideal is nothing processed/artificial, no stimulants, no toxic chemicals (including organic foods) and no damaged fats. You also balance your proteins, carbs, veggies and fats at each meal. The amount of carbs you eat is very important and they are spaced throughout the day. Not too little, not too much.

SPII is also about balancing out your life. Reducing excess stress, getting enough sleep and balancing cardio with resistance training (without overexercising) are discussed at length.

It's a healing program meant to heal your metabolism. Schwarzbein, an Endocrinologist, advocates that your major hormones (insulin, adrenaline and cortisol) control your metabolism so you won't control your weight until you heal your metabolism. Weight loss is a longer term goal than Atkins. It's basically a side-effect of getting healthy.

The carbs are a bit complicated to get into b/c there are 4 different programs.
