...but I do know that there can be some hormonal "shifts" when you make such a radical change in your diet. There is a sticky on the General Low-Carb forum that gives details on how to search.
You might try doing some searching to see if there is more information out there.

My 1st TOM was last month it was AWFUL. I felt like crying. The pains / flow was so bad I had to leave work early one day. It was the worst I had ever had. I've heard that they get better. Hope you feel better.

It gets better. Now that I have been on this WOE for 13 months my periods are normal and my PMS symptoms are lighter than they have ever been ever. So for now they may be bad but they will get better!

That's weird. Since LC I don't have in monthly cramps, backache or heavy flow. LC has cured all my monthly pains. I thought maybe it's the perservatives, chemicals and toxin's associated with high carb goods that caused the problem.

Sorry, that's happening to you.

I had an easy TOM the first month and
then they got worse. However, I read
somewhere that hormones, toxins, etc
get stored in our fat cells once we start
burning the fat this all gets released
and we feel the effects. It also said
that these symptoms should subside
in a couple of months.
I can't remember where I read this,
but it makes sense.

Hopefully you will feel better.

I know that the TOM has gotten
better for me.

Tanya

Also, don't rule out that something else could be happening with your body, such as a possible uterine cyst or something.

Hope things work out; and good health to you.

I have also heard that TOM can be more painful when you take in a lot of caffeine. Since I have stopped having caffeine, I feel less crampy.

My 1st 2 TOMs after I started low carbing were hellacious! Horrible cramps & excessive bleeding, but they got better. Now that I'm on depo provera shot, I'm not having a TOM (should've started last week). Bonus side effect of the BC & I'm still losing weight so I can't complain. You should be feeling better by your next go round, but if not consider going to your doctor just to make sure everything's kosher. I hope you feel better soon.
God Bless,
Amy-Lynne

Because of the type BC pills that I am on I usually don't have much of a TOM.

But I know from experience that if I drastically change my WOE I will get one. Once my body gets used to it, they will taper off again.
