How can I make a lc white sauce?

I have a few recipes that I could do if I can make white sauce to put in it. Since there are only three ingredients; butter, flour, and milk, I'm wondering if there's an easy alternative. Would butter, cream mixed with water, and soy flour work? Has anyone tried this before?
