Default weight gain

So, let me get all of this confusing stuff straight. Can I lose weight effectively on lo carb while I'm supposedly perimenopause? I've actually gained weight while still lo carbing. I have started some medication for an exacerbation of asthma including a two week course of prednisone which I stopped two weeks ago. Yesterday, I go on the scale and had gained 5 pounds in one day!!! It's there today. I'm taking sinulair and an albuterol inhaler as needed as well as nebulizer treatments. It's been a mess. I've really been sick. But this is soooooo despressing because I have tried so hard and don't want to get back where I was. I lost 30 pounds last year and have gained back 15 to almost 20 pounds just since September. Help!!! I feel like crying but I don't want to give up.
