Type 2 Diabetic
Hi everyone,
I just found out about 2 months ago that I have type 2 diabetes. My world has been turned upside down since then. I struggled to get my blood sugar down for the first month and a half. At first I figured I just needed some slight diet modifications. I cut out the most egregious of my diet sins and kept checking my blood glucose (BG) levels. No good. Then I sort of stopped eating, but my BGs skyrocketed as soon as I gave in. So I finally woke up and realized that I had a serious task before me. This has brought me around to Atkins. I've been on induction for the past week and my BGs are in a normal range everytime I check them- an immediate benefit and stress reducer. I don't need medication either. I'm thrilled with this. My appetite has subsided, but I think that might partially be a result of my terror of diabetic complications. Anyway, I'm glad to have found this board. I've already gotten a lot of great info from it.
Thanks,
Tom
