Question Jump Rope

Hi all

I am a great LCber, horrible exerciser and am wanting to start some at home things.

I have a jump rope and am wondering if it is really as great of an exercise as I have heard?
I am wanting to put together a home program, nothing fancy. I have some hand weights and my jump rope, do you think that will suffice? What are some good exercises I can do with just the weights ( I know like bicep curls stc.) I get bored really fast
