Default step counters

I'm new here as of now, so forgive me if I posted this in the wrong place

I got one of those step counters today w/ my adult happy meal(Mcdonald"s)
It said you should be taking 10,000 steps aday..Wow was I shocked when I didn't even make half that and thats w/ cleaning following 2 kids around and walking a dog!
Anyone else have/use this thing???
