Default How Atkins made Aniston, Renee, Affleck and Clinton cranky!

How Atkins made Aniston, Renee, Affleck and Clinton cranky!
Washington | March 27, 2004 8:50:24 PM IST

A new study says the protein-rich, low-carb Atkins, South Beach and Zone diets can make people really cranky.
According to the researchers, Carbohydrates boost the production of serotonin, a brain chemical which, when in low supply, can cause mood swings and depression.

Some of these celebs, who reportedly have been known to follow low-carb diets, have been working and acting pretty testy lately, says a report in the Star.

Jennifer Aniston, at the opening of the play Afterbirth: Kathy and Mo's Greatest Hits in LA pushed through the crowd to get inside. Even though it was a comedy, she sat there stone-faced.

Ellen DeGeneres, who is totally lovable on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, can be more irritable off-camera, says a source. It seems, Ellen barely talks to audience members, who've waited outside for hours, doesn't do autographs, and had security remove a fan for flashing her breasts during taping.

Not long after she shed pounds, the Dixie Chicks singer, Natalie Maines, who is staunchly anti-war, began a yearlong verbal feud with self-proclaimed redneck crooner Toby Keith and told a London audience she was ashamed George Bush was from Texas.

Bill Clinton, was also reportedly fed up with Hillary and spending time with Canadian auto heiress Belinda Stronach, after losing 35 pounds. Hillary, who's also done a low carb diet, was reportedly fuming.

George Michael, who apparently has been tense about his new album, Patience, has critics slapping its cranky lyrics. In the song "Through," Michael hints he may quit show biz. "I think it's over," he warbles, "and all this hatred may just make me strong enough to walk away."

During a recent trip to Las Vegas, Ben Affleck was walking by Houdini's Lounge when the MC shouted, "Ben, wave to the fans!" Ben snubbed the crowd, stalking away. "He was a jerk," one fan beefed.

Renee Zellweger, who porked up to play Bridget Jones again, dutifully eats Krispy Kreme donuts while falling in love with The White Stripes' Jack White. Now that she's slimming down, her mood is in flux. One minute, a report says she's looking at wedding rings, the next, she's ignoring Jack in her Oscar speech and at parties. (ANI)
