Default measurement question......oz

when I buy a small wheel of cheese, like Brie or Camembert, the packaging says 8 oz. on the outside yet when I weigh it sometimes, I seem to be getting a different quantity.
Is the packaging weight for soft cheeze in fluid ounces instead of whatever the alternative is called? If so, what should I use to keep track.
My FitDay software has an optional measurement of oz. which is what I have been using to keep track of carbs and calories etc.. Would the FitDay default nutrients totals be based on fluid weight or the other kind?
Maybe I am over complicating this but I am trying to FatFast for a few days and would kind of like to do it properly.
I already messed up day one by failing to read the label on the Metamucil powder I grabbed the other day and mistakenly using the one with 9 g or sugar per tablespoon........what a way to start a diet!
