AVENTURA, Fla., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pritikin Program, the scientifically documented program that promotes healthy lifestyle change through education, proper nutrition and exercise, was selected among the top nutrition and diet programs to participate in The Great Health Debate. Hosted by The Society of Success and Leadership, the debate will be broadcast live from Ramapo College Berrie Center for Performing Arts in Mahwah, NJ from 7:00- 8:40 p.m. on March 9 to an audience of more than 75 colleges, universities and related cable networks (i.e., Penn State, Duke University, Purdue and Cornell). For a list of participating colleges/universities in your area, contact The Society of Success and Leadership.

The panelists include Dr. Jay Kenney, leading nutrition research specialist at the Pritikin Longevity Center; Barry Sears, author of "The Zone Diet;" Dr. Stuart Trager, representative for the Atkins Diet, and others. Each representative will be given the opportunity to present why they believe their diet is the best. The panelists will debate the different diets and then viewers and callers can ask questions to determine for themselves the health benefits and pros and cons of each diet program.

Dr. Kenney will present the PritikinŽ Approach, which, within the past few decades, has been documented in more than 90 studies in prestigious medical journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation and JAMA. The Pritikin Program has helped more than 75,000 people who have visited the Pritikin Longevity CenterŽ & Spa, and millions of others worldwide, lose weight, control their blood sugar, reduce cholesterol, normalize blood pressure, and overcome the effects of diabetes, heart disease and certain forms of cancer.

The Society of Success and Leadership has developed this event to educate the academic and student communities in cities around the country regarding the latest diet and nutritional programs.

The Pritikin Longevity CenterŽ & Spa located at the Yacht Club of Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Florida, houses Pritikin's residential program that combines education, low-fat eating and structured exercise, tailored to meet the needs of the individual. The PritikinŽ Scientific Advisory Board is comprised of resident physicians and practitioners specializing in cardiology, nutrition, internal medicine, psychology, cancer, as well as leading physicians and researchers from UCLA. Daily, they track results, alter protocols, and put new research data to work, unceasing in their efforts to fine-tune the Pritikin Approach according to cutting-edge science.
