Default Some interesting reading regarding nicotine and insulin resistance

These are a bunch of links I found last night while searching for evidence to support a theory of mine that for some reason, it seems easier to quit smoking while LCing.

Well I still can't find solid evidence to support that but I'm still looking. The anecdotal evidence here though seems certainly significant.

But I did find a lot of very interesting studies regarding the connection between nicotine (smoking AND nico replacements) and increased insulin resistance (that state that cause some of us to lose weight so slowly). Nearly every link here a) suggests cessation of smoking and b) eating a healthy locarb diet to further increase insulin sensitivity.

I'm trying to find out when exactly insulin sensitivity begin to increase following the cessation of smoking. So far the best I can find is a study where the final tests where taken 8 weeks after nico replacements were stopped and insulin sentivity was shown to be rising. Interestingly, insulin resistance ROSE in that study while the subjects were taking nico replacements (gum or patches). This is the study discussed in the final link

So cold turkey is a better way to go. Ultimately faster too.
