Default Help

Hello,
I need some help ~~ after being on W.W for about 6 months, I have lost about 15 lbs. but find that I want to cheat alot.....
My mother developed diabetes this summer, so my dr. sent me to get blood work as well ... the results sucked!!! he told me that I was at high risk for a heart attack ( and promptly put me on meds)& my high blood pressure had starting doing some damage to my kidneys.... So my low fat dieting hasnt really been working ... I had tried the lo-carb diet several times and though I felt satisfied, I never really lost weight... I told myself that it just "didnt work for me".... but maybe I have been doing it wrong.... I was thrilled to find this site and hope that with some suggestions and encouragment I can be a healthier person....
I love the success stories and think that you put Jared to shame.....
I welcome any help that comes my way!!!!
Sherry

Welcome to the board!

Low-fat eating has not worked for many of us, so don't feel alone. Eating low-carb has been the only way for me to lose weight, as I can't stand feeling hungry (grumpy) all the time.

As you are reading around the forum, most peoples health also improves along with the weight loss. You are making a step in the right direction for yourself and your health!

Welcome Sherry Lil!!

I have been a low-carber for a very short time, but have been very successful. I too, have a mother that is on kidney dialysis and I will not follow her lead. So far no sign of hih-blood pressure or diabetes!

My suggestion to you to get this book: Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution and start reading about his diet. There are a few health problems that he goes over that may keep you from loosing weight, but he explains how they can be treated.

You have found an excellent forum of people! All you need to do is just ask!!

Good luck and may you have success!!

Hi yah, Sherry Lefty is right, get the lastest copy of Dr. Atkins book (if that is the program you're going to follow) and make it your new best friend. And of course, stick around and read the forum !

Cheers,
Nat
