Smile End of my Induction

Hi Everybody! Well, today was my last day of induction but I think I'm going to stay in this phase for at least 3-4 more weeks. I have never felt better. Lost 7lbs so far, ton's of energy and loving life right now. Co-workers are asking what diet I am on and I say "None". I use the words "a new way of life". It's funny to see the confused look on their faces. But I have convinced another person to try Adkins.

I did have a couple of questions though.

1) What is the policy on late night eating?? I find that I get hungry at around 10-11pm. I'm a night owl and usually go to bed around 1am. I've been having between 6-8 eggs scrambled and that seems to take away the hunger pangs.

2) Exercise??? I play Basketball once a week (2 hours non stop) and lift wieghts at least 3 times a week. I have tried to cut down on the stairmaster, treadmill and bikes. I'm a pretty muscular guy so I really don't want to lose any muscle mass. Any suggestions?

Just wanted to thank everyone in advance for their help!

Brian

congrats on your weight loss and feeling so much better. I don't see a risk of your losing muscle mass, not as long as you keep your protein grams high (and a snack of 6 eggs suggests you do!) and keep working out. Keep lifting--no reason to stop.

As far as I know, there is no "policy" in Atkins against eating later in the evening. In fact, after I've studied a lot about serotonin levels and blood sugar levels, it might actually be a good thing to eat something in the evening if you feel hunger. This can help keep your blood sugar level, so that in the morning you're not draggy and listless.

I'd say, if you're continuing to lose weight, I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you're finding yourself having heartburn in the night, or waking up often.
