South Beach on major German TV
My mother lives in Germany and knows about South Beach from me. She told me that a few days ago, South Beach Diet was discussed for 45 min on a major German TV channel - ARD, the first, most conservative channel, publicly funded, so maybe it would be similar to PBS. She expected the typical anti-American anti-diet propaganda (subject for the off topic - rarely is ANYTHING American embraced in Germany nowadays), but was pleasantly surprised. She said they explained how insulin, glucose, hunger and what you eat are connected, and she felt they were quite positive although they did warn about low carb long term possibly depriving you of nutrients - yet they ended up recommending a sort-of low carb approach, albeit not exactly. From what she said they recommended, it sounded like phase 2/3, and she agrees but it was put more as an alternative. While this is far from complete endorsement, she felt overall she has learned something and was surprised how positively they portrayed the whole low carb movement.
Has anyone in Germany seen this? Any first hand comments?
