Default Chinese Food

Friday night my family and I were out shopping and went to a chinese buffet that we have been to a number of times. I have always been able to stay LC with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, chicken breasts BBQ on skewers, roast beef, veggies etc...last night everything had changed!!!
No eggs, just head lettuce, nothing else on salad bar I could eat! no roast beef, no chicken! I couldn't believe i!
I managed to get by eating broccoli and taking the chicken out of chicken balls and having some canteloupe. I did have some chow mein tho 'cause I figured bean sprouts can't be that bad but I can't find a carb count anywhere...does anyone know?
Thanks......I sure won't go back there again!!!!

If you're not on induction the chicken wings are usually ok to eat. High in sodium (from the Soy Sauce), but not bad in a pinch.

Bean sprouts are mung beans.

I don't know why there's a massive difference between boiled and stirfried, especially when it's going by weight and not volume

Maybe they absorb water when boiled which makes them heavier and therefore less carbs, and when stir-fryed they give out water, making them lighter and concentrating the carbs.... maybe someone will know for sure!

Mung beans! Boy, I never would have found them!! Thanks so much.....do you think the ones you get at those chinese buffets at the steam tables are stir fried or boiled?

Thanks for the chicken wing idea..I had a few of them too (i forgot about them) but the ones they had there seem like they might had a flour batter on them..not sure......

Things to eat....

I find that the places around here typically have a no sugar beef and broc. combo. that is good. You can always take the chicken out of the "bread shell" and most stirfry is acceptable.

I have always lost 1 lb the day after eating chinese food. Doesn't make sense to me. I never eat any noodle or batter coated things, but I do eat sweet + sour pork, beef + broccoli + prawn/bean dishes etc. I know there is cornstarch in it all. Strange how I lose, so I never worry too much about it any more. I drink lots of water to flush out the salt, tho.
