Default Do you count carbs for spices?

I was wondering how many people counted carbs for spices.

I almost always forget to add them to my fitday but I usually try and keep my carbs at around 18 or so to give those extra couple of hidden carbs room.

Ever since I found out that garlic powder has 6 carbs per tablespoon, I've been counting spices too.

I really wanted to mark two. I also leave room for "hidden" carbs.

I count real garlic cloves, but nothing else. I just make sure to use spices moderately.

Cherper, go to www.fitday.com. They list all spices as well.

I used to be totally anal the first 2-3 months, and counted EVERYTHING, incl "a pinch of dried chili pepper".

I'm not that rigid anymore, though...

I was shocked when I found out how many carbs cinnimon has. I love the stuff. I decided not to count the carbs though because I felt that would be just one more then for me to obsesse over, and I'm already too intense on some things.

I really started counting spices when I was looking at fitday and saw that garlic powder has carbs and I was using it on just about everything! So I have since changed to garlic salt -using sparingly. Since I am only on my third week I count everything - I am sure it will wear off sooner or later!

I use spices in moderation if I am not sure of the carb count.

If I use a larger portion that I am actually bothering to measure out (tablespoon, teaspoon, even half teaspoon), then I will count it. But if its just a sprinkle I don't count it but I usually leave 2 to 3 grams of my carb allotment for those kind of carbs.
