Bacon Hmmmm
Hi,
In the DANDR there are a couple of cautions about bacon. First of all, it is filled with nitrites which while they won't hurt your induction, Atkins cautions they are a potential health issue. Secondly, you have to READ the packaging. Many bacons are cured with sugar and THAT is a no no.
HOWEVER< that said, I did find some bacon that isn't cured with sugar, and has 33% less salt, which can also slow you down. I use it, but in limitation...usually no more than three slices a day and usually as a garnish on a salad or in a crustless quiche etc. You could visit www.atkins.com also which will give you a very clear list of allowed foods and rules for induction, to get you started. Have you bought the book? If you can't try to get it from the library, or borrow it. I really believe it is essential to read the book, not only for foods, but tips on stalls, exercise, the chemistry of low carbing etc. Good luck, Margot
