Question Breakfast

Hello Everyone,
After two weeks on Induction I'm sick of eggs for breakfast. Does anyone have any suggestions? Breakfast is when I miss bread or cereal the most. I've tried the Atkins muffin mixes and they are okay, but not very satisfying.

I hear you jpfuz, the thought of one more egg makes me want to get sick. But you aren't just limited to eggs, make some sort of meat, or a saliad. Good luck, Jackie

Hi Jpfuzz,
First I would like to say welcome to the board.
You don't necessarily have to have eggs for breakfast. You can have anything for breakfast for example, say you had some left over grilled chicken wings from dinner last night, well there is your breakfast.

I"m a big fan of the Atkins Morning Start breakfast bars. 2 carbs per bar - very good. I also change-up what I think of as breakfast food. For example, deviled eggs are heavenly and much tastier to me in the morning... just a thought.

Get creative - you can do it!

Think outside the box!

Eat anything for breakfast that you can eat any other time of day. Have your dinner left overs for breakfast. It doesn't have to be eggs.

I usually alternate between two different breakfast items: a protein shake or some Flax-O-Meal Instant Hot Cereal.

The protein shake consists of:
1 scoop Designer Whey Vanilla Protein Powder
2 tbs DaVinci Sugar Free Caramel Syrup
2 tbs heavy whipping cream
1 oz cream cheese
1 raw egg (very optional)
7 ice cubes
1/3 cup water
Mix well with blender.

The Flax-O-Meal hot cereal consists of:
1/2 cup Flax-O-Meal Strawberries & Cream Instant Hot Cereal
3/4 cup boiling hot water
1 tbs butter
2 tbs DaVinci Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup

Both items are very filling, very tasty and quick to make!

For a breakfast change, I have sliced cucumber and topped with salmon salad.

How about the zucchini nut bread with cream cheese...or that italian wedding soup (broth, meatballs and spinach)...cooked chicken with a bit of salsa, cheese and bit of green pepper and microwaved a bit to melt the cheese- add a spoonful of sour cream...celery stix and cream cheese...lightly sauteed spinach with some oil and vinegar or lemon juice- get the tastebuds up and running for the day...just some ideas. Whatever you eat should be food you enjoy!

My staple is pepperoni & cheese. It's good to eat if you are on the run and don't have much time for cooking.

I know what you mean though about wanting breakfast ideas. Sometimes I put off eating breakfast, as bad as I know that to be for my sugar levels (see-I am learning from reading all of you pros out there!) Sometimes I wish i could have just a crispy piece of dark toast with a touch of peanut butter, but I'm still in inducation and plan to stay here until I lose at least half the weight. I know I can eat meat, cheese, or salad for breakfast, but they seem even heavier to me then the thought of eggs. Usually I'm okay with eggs, so don;t get me wrong-I'm not complaining TOO much- but if I could find a way to eat soemthing like a slice of toast, I'd be thrilled. I was intrigued by the suggestion of an 'Atkins Morning Start Breakfst Bar,' but don't know where I;d find that in Canada. Anybody out there, in Ontario (where I am!) who knows where I could find them?
Kathy

Oooh Jessie,

You sound like a woman close to my own heart! Now I know exactly what I'm gonna have for breakfast tomorrow, once all the kids head off to school! Thanks for the tip! Now I just have to come up with an idea that's fast and easy, for when I have to head out the door real fast..

once off induction, I started to use the atkins shakes and bars for breakfast somtimes. Also for a treat I use the La tortilla tortilla (3gm net carb) and fill it with stuff, such as cheese.

Hi Sandy,

Does this mean you aren't suppose to have an Atkin's breakfast bar while on induction? I've never actually even tried one before but was thinking of trying to find some today (I live in Ontario, Canada) so I could have them for those mornings I'm in a hurry. Thanks for the warning though- this early in the game for me- I don't want to do anything that breaks those induction 'rules'! I like the idea of the tortilla though and will file that away for when I'm off induction. Thanks!
Kathy
