Question Nat.....can L-Glutamine/L-Carnitine make you gain weight????-ONe more thing.......

can L-glut or L-car make you gain (or retain) muscle weight for a while? I just started taking L-glut/L-car and today I am 1.5 pounds more than last week ( I only weigh once a week), BUT my clothes are definetely more loose, my rings are more loose. My inches seem to be about the same but my pants are looser. How is this possible? I have always worked out but in the last 2 days I have increased my weight workout. Could that have made me retain muscle weight?
Thanks for any insight.

If only everyone had such complaints

No, to my knowledge neither makes you gain weight. Glutamine can help add volume to muscle tissue to a certain extent, but nothing like creatine (which causes a definite scale blip). I've never seen it happen to me in 2 years BUT then again my weight can blip by 2 or 3 lbs from day to day (and I bet I'm not unique in that respect).

What it could do is increase your water weight. Reparing muscles takes water. Think of inflamed tissue, it's puffy and it's tender.

Muscle weight is something you either have or don't have (kinda like being pregnant ). It takes a good 6 weeks to grow a few lbs you can 'see' but during that time expect fluctuations after heavy workouts. At the end of the day, if you're retaining some water and your clothing is fitting looser don't you think that's a good thing?

Cheers,
Nat
