Question Atkins candy bars

I have been on LC eating for 2 months now and just started buying the candy bars. I have been eating one a day. Can anyone tell me if you can eat more during the day or will they stall your weight?

judi...I am a low carb candy hog..oink, oink...so be careful...If you binge on them, they will give you terrible stomach pains with gas...you will definately pay for your binge...It's hard for me to eat just one...but I try to do better...I have lost while eating the lc bars, but am thinking that they have probably have kept me from loosing more weight. Just test the waters to see how you do...I love them..and they help with my problem with constipation while on atkins...however, when I try to stray over to a calorie based diet, I always come back to atkins, because I miss the lc chocklate so much...and because on atkins, I never have to go hungry...

Use wisdom and try to do better than I do....If your a compulsive eater...be careful...they now have them at wal-mart in the candy section...The russel stovers are wonderful...I love the toffee ones...and the truffels...I find the chocklate better than the carbolite and the atkins endulge...watch the carbs on them though...they sometimes have a little more carbs than the carbolites....

Good luck to you...Trisha

I would use them ffor an occasional treat, but not an everyday item. Aside from the potential stall, there are other *ahem* effects from consuming too much of them.

Besides the laxative effect and the stall potential from sugar alcohols .. I'd be concerned about triggering old addictions and cravings for more and more sweets. Did you used to eat candy every single day .. did you eat 2 candy bars daily?

Just like candy bars made from sugar, these have NO nutrition in them ... but lots of empty calories. One small 1 oz. bar can have 200 calories.

Are you eating the candy instead of a meal of real food with protein?

It's not a good habit to get into .. and if it's an old bad habit come back to haunt, it would be good to get it under control before it controls you .. again Those sugar-free candies and chocolates are like low-carb methadone.

I agree it would be best to save these for a special treat occasionally. Since you're well into OWL, and losing weight successfully .. you might consider having a piece of fruit .. maybe a small apple or pear. That might satisfy your sweet tooth. Yes, it will have more carbs .. but it will provide mored satieity and nutrition for you.

hth,

Doreen

Smile thanks

Thanks everyone, for your input on the bars. I have always been a big candy eater, eating 3, 12oz. bags of chocolate licorice a week!
I haven't had any for almost 4 months now
Since reading everyone's posts, I have decided not to indugle too much with these bars. They CAN become very addictive, but so far, I haven't had any health problems eating them.
