Question effect of atkins diet on gal bladder

I am a newbie and very excited about Dr. Atkins. My husband has lost a lot on it and I want to lose also. I am concerned about my gal baldder as I know I have gal stones and do not want to agrivate them. Does anyone know what research has been done on this or where to look for info?

Hi there Malodn, welcome!

I have to say first that as an RN, my advice would be to think very seriously about having your gallbladder removed. When done laparoscopically, it is relatively minor surgery. Otherwise you may well suffer pain and problems which could have been avoided. Not trying to scare you - in fact, I sincerely hope you never have any more problems!

This question comes up here from time to time. This post is addressing a member who has gall stones. The basic information is that losing slowly is safer for someone with gallstones.

Have a look at Dr Atkins's site as Shannon suggests. He's at www.atkinscenter.com

All the best!

Rosebud
