Default Six-year-old who tried to slim with a knife

Article

It just goes to show you how being overweight and what others say can really damage a person, at a very young age.

Default So sad!

What a sad story. I'm so glad that she didn't hurt herself with the knife.

My daughter was bigger than most of the other kids in 2 and 3rd grade. I used to worry that she would be teased. I think she was just under chubby. I worried more than her about it, I used to ask the doctor if she was in danger of being overweight. He always thought that she would outgrow it. I was teased as a kid for being chubby, then later I was the skinny kid. Now, my daughter is in 5th grade and thinning out. I don't worry anymore because I am teaching her how to make good food choices.

Anyway I'm going to pray for that little girl and her family.

Have a great LC day

Default Sad....

What a sad story.

That was me(not quite that big--I can't recall the conversion from stones to pounds!). I can relate to the feelings that girl has. I had a brother who tormented me because of my weight. He would actually coax my friends and family into teasing me about how fat I was. It was horrible. My mom wondered why I had so many "social" issues and why I sometimes hated to go places with my brother(duh). We have a healthy sibling relationship now.....

As an adult, I know that I own this weight issue, but I do have my brother to thank for really planting a lot of emotional seeds about weight in my head. The only things I can do are: 1. Work on myself 2. Make sure this is not repeated in my children.

How sad that such a young girl has such an emotional burden.
