Default Stevia

Last night at a meeting I attended a lady spoke on herbs.

She said that the local greenhouse can hardly keep Stevia plants in stock because people are buying them to use as sweetener.

What you do is pour boiling water over fresh Stevia leaves and steep like you would tea. This infused liquid can be used as sweetener.

This would be a great, inexpensive sweetener if you like the taste of Stevia. Personally, I'd rather have a Splenda plant because I find stevia a little bit too bitter for my taste.

Actually, I've heard that the refining of the Stevia is what can make it taste bitter. I've heard that the leaves are very sweet, no bitterness. I didn't even know they sold the plants around here! I wish you hadn't told me that....LOL. I also read somewhere that using the leaves themselves have alot of benefits to them, like strengthening the heart muscle, and healing various ills. I might just take a drive to my local nursery.....

I agree with you Atrsi! Wish I could find a Splenda plant. Vonnie
