Default low carb bread

Hi Peach, I promise I am not trying to rain on your parade. I just thought I would show you an article from www.drsears.com re: low carb bread.

"Low-carb, high-fiber breads"

Are the high-fiber, low-fat, low-carb breads now available in health food stores a good choice for carb blocks in meal planning? (Examples are Staff of Life Breads, Atkins breads, etc., which range from 3-7 grams of carbs a slice, 8-10 protein and 1-2 fat.) What's the best way to use these whole-grain, low-carb breads in a Zone Diet?
-Vroon

I am always very leery of "low-carbohydrate" breads since they often contain a lot of fillers that have very little nutritional value, however, one brand that I am impressed with is a series of organic breads from French Meadow Bakery located in Minneapolis. Each slice is as close to the Zone as you are going to find. The company's telephone number is 612-870-0907, and the breads can be found in the freezer section of most markets that have an organic food section. Put some-low fat cheese and extra-virgin olive oil on top of one slice and heat in toaster oven or microwave until the cheese softens.

Another great line of breads are from Natural Ovens. Many of them 1 block per slice. Definitely a nutrient dense product.
