Talking New attitude

This wkend I got on the scales after my first wks 10# loss I was anticipating another loss. Nothing!! hmmmmm
My normal pattern would be to get depressed, which would in turn - become a great reason to abandon my goal. I thought about it and I realized that I haven't felt this great in a long time. I know how horrible I feel when I fill up on bread -it really isn't worth it. I am actually excited about week 3 (I am staying on induction)
I don't have a tape measure in house so this morning I pulled out a pair of jeans that I no longer wear - they fit!!!!

I thought with all of the stress over the wkend- My hubby has altzheimers- we were at a hockey game and he started yelling and swearing at a kid that kicked the back of his seat. My sweet hubby who would never have swore at anyone let alone a child is changing b4 my eyes- oddly enough the fact that I am now taking care of myself was a big bonus in helping me help him- I no longer feel so helpless. As for hubby, I am making a call to doctor to up meds today.

Sooooooo sorry to hear about your husband - what a sad and trying time this must be for you. This is probably the best time, however for you to take care of yourself. We need to make deposits into ourselves before others can make withdrawals and it sounds like your husband's condition will make plenty of those.
Best of luck to you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I've taken care of my late aunt who suffered alzheimers for years so I know how emotionally and physically draining it could be. Do you have anybody else helping you care for him? I sure hope you have lots of support. I used to stuff my face everytime I felt frustrated or helpless which made me feel worse and made it harder for me to care for her with my unpredictable mood swings. I wish I'd found this WOE a lot sooner. I wish you all the courage and strength!

Hello Janny...

Glad to hear that through it all you're taking efforts and attention to yourself. We tend to forget that caregivers need some care too...

So hang in here with us for support and motivation -
although you've got 50% of the equation figured out, which is attitude -

but if you ever need to vent or get some TLC...this forum has such wonderful people on it...

We've all been lifted by someone around here! We'll be glad to do the same for you...

Take care

I, too would like to give you encouragement and praise. Keep up the good work! Your plate (life) is full of challenges - but you have a wonderful attitude and are taking care of yourself and your husband! May God bless you as you continue to fight the fight -- and WIN!

Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the encouragement that you have extended to me.
I have had glimpses of what is ahead so I keep reminding myself to stay in the now and stay as healthy as I can.
I am looking forward to returning the caring encouragement to others.

I must admit Karen that just looking at your page makes me homesick for Vancouver I lived there for 5 yrs right near Stanley Park. Anyone who hasn't had an opportunity to eat at the Fish House doesn't know what they are missing. It is one of those cherished memories of my life there but I will return one day. How could I stay away from beautiful Vancouver.

Hi Janny,

Let me add my voice to the chorus of support out here - You are so doing the right thing by taking care of yourself so that you have the strength and confidence to handle the difficulties ahead. I wish you well - Your perspective is wonderful - hang onto it.

And oh, by the way, CONGRATULATIONS on the 10 lbs and the jeans. Doesn't the feel great?!?

Pat
