Red face Hungry..not!

Ever since I started low carbing almost a month ago I noticed I am not hungry until after i eat...I eat when I need to..I am also a diabetic on oral meds so I have to eat regularly..but what I wanted to mention is that eating makes me nauseous...I almost have to gag the food down..especIially breakfast. I could probably go without lunch but eat it anyways or else my blood glucose dips too low...

The really strange thing is that after I eat..almost immediately after I feel hungry...it goes away, usually after I snack on something fat, like Pork Rinds..I discovered if I make sure to eat more fat when I eat I don't get as hungry after...so I butter up or cover in cheese whatever I can..

Undertand that I am a 6' man weighing 270 lbs..and I was always hungry and never stopped being hungy...but I use to enjoy eating...no meal time becomes a struggle to get it down...

Not a problem...just wondering if anyone else noticed a similar thing....

Hi
Some times if I have lost my taste for a certain food that will happen, I just can not stomach another bite... sometimes I wake up and I am just not hungry...Have you read up on this in the Dr. Atkins NEW diet revolution book. The answer to your questions you might find in there. Good Luck..

Hi Scott. How about going to the Diabetes section of this forum and asking this question? Just use the "forum jump" menu below. It seems that this might be particular to diabetics. Not being hungry is a natural side effect of low carbing as the blood sugar stablilizes when sugars and starches are eliminated.

The constant hunger you knew before was "carbs calling to carbs" as they caused a spike up in blood sugars, then an insulin surge, then a plunge in blood sugar then a horrible hunger then a spike in blood sugar.........

Fats are rather neutral as they do not cause an insulin surge. The protein and the low glycemic index carbs do not make the blood sugars rise so fast, so little or no insulin is elicited.
