Default Finding my blood type

I just called my doctor and he said the lab test for finding my blood type is $38.50. That's more than I care to spend. Any other ideas on how to find my blood type? Any in-home test?

Katie

Just a thought - might not the Red Cross give you that info after a blood donation?

They will do a blood type test. ALso, if both your parents are O's then you have to be O too.

I don't think that' necessarily true - I'm A negative, Father of my daughter is A negative - and she is O (just don't remember if she was positive or negative - but O for sure).

Yes it is. That means you are AO genotype and so is the father of your daughter. The two of you passed down one O allele apeice. If you are O then you have two O alleles. O is always recessive in the ABO system. If both parents are O then they have two O alleles and that is all they can pass down.

Unfortunately I don't give blood because of thyroid problems. I doubt my Mom, at 86, remembers her blood type. I guess there is no easy (cheap) way to do this.

Thanks for the ideas.

There might be a record of it somewhere in your medical history. If you were closer, I would just run a test on you.

If you have thyroid issues, why can't they do a quick run when they do the thyroid panel?

Default Dr D'Adamo's web site...

If you search for his web site, he sells blood testing kits for less than $10. (last time I knew). There is also quite a forum there, along the lines of this one, of people following his program who believe as strongly in that WOE as the folks here do about ours. (The blood type diet---If that is why you were wondering what your blood type was, if not, he still sells cheaper kits)
