Default So when's the good stuff supposed to happen?

I've been on Atkins now since July 29. I was expecting to have more energy and feeling better about myself by now.

I certainly don't have any more energy than I did, and I don't feel any healthier. When's the good stuff suppose to happen?

(BTW already lost 16 lbs)

Hi Rusulka!

Without more information, it's hard to even speculate on why you don't have more energy but I'll go over some of the more common causes:

1) Not enough veggies
2) Low potassium (get a potassium supplement)
3) Low calcium/magnesium (get a calcium/magnesium supplement)
4) Not enough calories
5) Not enough water (dehydration will make you feel tired and sluggish)

It might help if you can post what you eat on an average day along with any supplements you are taking (if any).

Default Sample daily food

Breakfast:
Bacon and eggs

Lunch:
2 cups of salad
(with romanie lettuce, green onion, cucumber and cheddar cheese)

Dinner:
steak
(or pork chops, or hamburger, sometimes fish)
Brocoli with cheese (or another salad with cheese)

Occasionally I will have blueberries and cream for breakfast and sometimes I will splurge and have some no sugar added ice cream.

I take a vitamin called One a Day for women with 400 mg calcuim and 50 mg magnesium. (no potassium though) and some Vit c, a, B1, B2, B6, B12, D, and E, etc, etc...

I drink enough water...between 4-8 glasses a day...I have a hard time drinking more than that.

Hopefully this will give you a better idea of why I could feel just as blah as I did before. Also, I am on my 7th week of Induction (trying to lose more weight for my wedding) Maybe that's why, but I can't say for sure

Hi There,

Sounds like you may not be eating enough? Try adding some calorie dense items such as olive oil and mayo etc.

Plus trying to up your water would help. 8 glassess should be the minimum.

Supps wise potassium definitely helps with fatigue and your magnesium should be up around 500mg.

Lightbulb Hi There.

I agree with the others, I think you are not eating plenty of the food you supost to be eating.

I think breakfast are ok, but you lunch should includ some source of protein I know you eat cheddar cheese with your salad, but should try adding chicken or beef to you salad. Make a quick dressing with mayo, grey poupon, vinager, one pack of slenda, salt, pepper it comes out very good. You dinner its good maybe you should make choice like ground beef and add some avocado and sour cream and hot sause and it taste like the filling of a taco.

I was losing 1 1/2 pound per day I got off the diet for a few days, I was feeling good with lots of energy, but I got freak out cause I was losing fast, anywasys I am back on track today I gain .5 pounds no bad, but I am very pleased with the results, and I am always feeling with lots of energy, proof of that I walk/run 5 time a week for an hour, plus I do step 2-3 times a week, plus a weigh training class(that's a hour too) see you later.
