Default Eggs and carbs

I'm doing Atkins and I've been using Fitday.com to do my daily carb count, but I'm
confused about eggs. In the book it says eggs are a free food, but according to
Fitday, they have carbs, although few. However, since I'm in induction and eating
a lot of eggs, they add up. Do I count those carbs or not?

Hi Elmay,

These are what are sometimes referred to as "hidden carbs". Yes eggs do have a small amount of carbs. Less than one gram so according to U.S. standards companies don't have to report it to you in their packaging. (I have heard the rules are different in Canada --go Canadians..you are on the right track) so by the end of the day if you are eating foods with .5 grams and .8 grams and not counting them you could find yourself over the limit you are shooting for.

So by all means, follow fitday and include your hidden carbs as part of your daily intake. If you are on Atkins, don't forget to subtract your fiber from your carb number..

Good luck

Smile other sources of protein

In addition to eggs, I'm eating chicken, fish, pork, beef, turkey, you name it. But I generally have 2-3 eggs for breakfast and 2-3 deviled eggs for lunch. By dinner, I'm ready for something else!

Eggs do have carbs. o.6 per egg
Things like mayo, coffee, splenda...just about everything we consume has carbs. Pure meats(not bacon, sausage), fish, poultry and your butter and oils do not have carbs. That's about it.
