Cool Hi, I'm new here

Hi, my name is Marc. I'm 18 and I go to Ohio University in Athens, OH (criminology major). I started the Atkins Diet today. I currently weigh 190 and I'm 6'2. My goal is to drop to 165. Can anyone provide me with a list of no carb/low carb foods? Which vegetables are safe to eat? How do you get calcium if you can't drink milk on this plan? I do take a multivitamin everyday. I drink LOTS of water, but is Diet Soda allowed on this plan? What other foods should I NOT eat? Thanks, and I'll let you know how it's coming along in the weeks to come!

Hi Marc,

The best thing you could ever do for yourself is get and read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution if Atkins is the plan that you choose to follow. All the information is there - from how it works, to what you can and cannot eat, and how to follow the plan right through to lifetime maintenance.

It's one of the tools you need to succeed with this way of eating, and that would be the knowledge you obtain - which is much more than a list of foods could provide.

Karen

Hiya

I agree , you definetly need to buy the book (or hire from the library) . I still read the book frequently and I've had it for a year , must have referred to it hundreds of time. Good to see you have found this site as it gives great advice and motivation. Wishing you luck.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably pick up the book as soon as I can. Sharon, I live in the residence halls so I have the 20 meals/week plan. Almost everything here is breaded or has bread with it, so it's hard to find food that is low in carbs.

Remember..Calcium doesn't just come from milk...there's cheeses...cheddar..cottage...cream...

And cream too...lots of calcium there too.
