Default How to get fibre on induction

Hi,

I have been doing Atkins induction for the past week and a bit and have been using Fitday to keep track of carbs etc. I notice that my fibre is quite low and when I look up the RDA for fibre it is 20 - 35 g/day. What is the best way to get fibre while on induction?

Since veggies are so limited on induction is there any supplement that I could take that wouldn't add carbs?

Sally

I am thinking some here used physillium husks (I hope I spelled that right!). I didn't use anything while on Induction, just ate my food. I got a little uncomfortable for a couple of days a couple of times, but nothing serious. Once I got past Induction I added a few berries and nuts and more veggies, which really upped my fiber intake.

Eat spinach!

100 grams of raw spinach has 3.5 grams of carbohydrate and 2.7 grams of fiber. 500 grams cooks down to nothing and it's great with lemon, olive oil and garlic.

Make sure that your carbs are coming from mainly from vegetables.

The RDA is for the typical, non low-carb diet. You need that much fiber to move the carbage through your digestive system.

Thanks everyone...I will check out the psyllium cabs/husks thing and try to have some on hand for days when I don't eat lots of veggies...I'm on Atkins induction and it is tough to get those fibre grams in!

Karen, I will definitely try the spinach though - it sounds tasty...
