Default Am I thick or what?

Ok good people, I've just bumbled through my 14 day induction, lost a good bit of weight (I can tell by watching the cellulite round my midriff changing shape but I must buy some scales) and intend to carry on with this level as long as I can, because I'm feeling great, and healthier than in years, and not hungry or bored. BUT, I admit to being confused about my induction carb counting; here are my queries for your kind attention;

3 cups of salad/veg per day; do I count the carbs in these in my total?
3Tbs of cream per day: ditto
20 olives per day: ditto
1/2 avocado per day: ditto

I must have been doing something right, as it's worked, but I would feel more in control if I got this little query sorted. Thanks.

Hi Nitabee

Yes, you should count the carbs in everything - you can however deduct fibre from your veggie carbs - say a cup of veggies had 8 carbs and 2 fibre - you would deduct that and only count 6 carbs. Good Luck.

Hiya,

Just wanted to say congrats on getting through induction and losing the weight!! You have to count all the carbs i'm afraid, but if you're losing then it seems you're doing fine! You should start a journal so people can stop by and keep in touch with everyone. It helps to keep track of all the things you've eaten and gives people a chance to gice advice and encouragement. I see you live in sunny old bristol. I live just across the bridge in cardiff. My goal's the same as you although i've hit a big time stall at the moment Anyway, good luck and have a great day.

Tammy

Thank you everyone for the good wishes, I get it now. Is it me or is the book confusingly written? ie on one page it says no alcohol or cottage cheese during induction, and on the next suggests induction recipes containing both, hmmm. I'm finding FitDay a bit dodgy to use too - when it doesn't list something (like mascarpone cheese for instance) that I've eaten. Anyway, I'm still trucking on and feeling good, and my jeans are getting looser by the day. And hi there Tammy-across-the-bridge, how long have you been doing this? I am finding these boards invaluable, great sources of inspiration.

Hi nitabee,

I've been doing this on and off for about a year, but this time i've been doing it properly for about 4 weeks. I'm finding it quite easy this time since i found this forum. I found breakfast difficult but with all the great recipes i've managed to find a substitute for my everyday toast! I wouldn't have been able to do this without this forum and everyone's support. Anyway hope you're having a lovely bacnk holiday weekend even though the weather isn't very good. Stop by my journal anytime to say hello and i'll keep checking to see how you're doing.

Tammy

My advice is: don't, at least not quite yet. You are using the best method right now to monitor your success, how you look in the mirror, how you feel, how your clothes fit.

Congrats on the success so far!

Good job. Yes count the carbs in everything you eat.
Also if there is alcohol in a recipie most of the alcohol should evaporate.
