Default Peanut question (again)

Hi all,

I've just recently started on the atkins diet, can i have peanuts in the induction phase, as long as my total carbs for the day (inc peanuts) doesn't go over 20 grammes, surely carbs are carbs?

Cheers.

Well, the book clearly states they aren't allowed on induction. I think it's partially because of the craving issue, and mostly because Dr Atkins wants your carbs to come from nutrient-dense veggies. All carbs are not created equal.

And Dr. Atkins also says, "not all carbs are created equal" I think he has definite reasons for telling you to try different kinds of carbs in a certain order. That way you can tell what triggers cravings or makes you stall.

I tell everyone to definitely read the book if you haven't already, it answers a lot of questions. And I re-read it a lot because there is just a lot of information in it to get it all the first go round.

Good luck
Jenny

BTW my opinion is if you eat them on induction and are still losing at a steady rate that is acceptable to you then I really wouldn't worry about it that much. But that is just me and I'm no Dr. Atkins that's for sure.

I have to leave them alone altogether, unfortunately, with most other nuts and "small snacky things" since for me, they add up quickly...my "serving" can turn into a whole can rather quickly!
