Default Kool-aid?

I have two boys, 13 and 9, who eat like there's no tomorrow. Poor guys, I make them eat their sweets in the opposite room from me so I don't attack them....lol!

We have always drank loads of kool-aid. I started making it with less and less sugar until they complained it was bitter. So......I got the bright idea of using Splenda. Nobody has complained once and I am pretty sure they haven't noticed it is not full of sugar!! Yea!!

Is this okay on Atkins????

This forum is sooooo great and it has been a huge help.

Thanks to all who are here!!

Yep, Splenda-sweetened Kool-aid would be okay, as long as you count the carbs. I'd go easy on it, though... I'm suspicious of all artificial sweeteners.

I do not know if it is ok on the Atkins to drink it, BUT
why don't you use the Sugar Free Kool Aid instead? My boys have been drinking this for years now after my dentist recommended it because of all the sugar you have to use to make regular koolaid.
The Sugar Free Koolaid cost more ($2.35 for a box containing 4 envelopes that make 2 quarts each).
This kind contains Aspartame just like the Crystal Light.

I will give the sugar free kool-aid a shot. My mom has been diabetic for 32 years and we ate and drank a lot of sugar free stuff through our growing up years that we never suspected.....lol.

Just goes to show how we can reform our tastes and expectations.

Debra, there really is no difference in the taste.
They also have different flavors like the new cool ones like Berry blast and Mountain Twist. You might be off cheaper, too instead of using regular with the Splenda.
