Talking New Menus

We ate at Chili's over the weekend, and they have a nice new "choice" menu. It has the total meal carb count and fiber count printed right under the menu item. I always figured my choices were low, but it was nice to see the numbers... it was also fun to look at some of the foods and exclaim at how low or high they are! This menu was subtle, too, it didn't scream low-carb, which I thought was nice.

I had the ribeye (rare) with veggies. It's what I usually order -- it only had 4 net carbs: 8 carbs, 4 fiber. It was nice to just say "I'll have the choice menu ribeye, rare," rather than taking stuff away, substituting, etc.

I ate at Chili's last week as well. I had the mushroom burger. It was yummy. The veggies on the side had slivers of carrots, so left them on the plate. But everything else was exactly right - including the side of mayo!!

We love Chili's. I was so glad to see the new choice menu. But I was so dissapointed when we got the regular dishes instead. My first clue should have been when the salad came with the croutons. I always say no croutons. But since I had the choice menu in my hand (is a long insert, separate from the regular menu)and ordered the burger from the choice menu I thought he would understand. I didn't say anything, picked and the croutons out. But then the bacon burger came with the bun and overflowing french fries. I was more upset when I looked at my husband's plate and saw that his "choice" salmon and veggies was loaded with rice. (I was so busy feeding the baby I had not noticed until then).
So yes, it is nice that Chili's has this new menu. Now it would be even better if they trained their waiters to recognize the difference.
