Sure, SBD starts out similar, but you have to watch the KINDs of fats and the KINDS of carbs...they follow a menu that limits portions of allowed carbs (low gi carbs) and the whole thing is just exausting. It's "good" fats and "low gi" carbs, high fiber breads...their phase one is nearly identical to Atkins. I did not lose weight...it is a controlled carbohydrate diet but not low enough in carbs or high enough in fat to keep anyone FULL long enough to the next meal...and so they encourage SNACKING and it has to be on only allowed foods/carbs...blah blah blah...people on it furiously deny its low carb...I decided I'd just rather watch the carbs. Not the kinds of carbs and kinds of fats - PLUS watch portions --- gosh, if you do all that, it's even harder than counting calories! Impossible to travel on such a plan. Atkins is so much more portable...and I need that. Eggs for breakfast, salad/chicken is everywhere --- never a problem. So much more to explain to observers when on SBD - why I can have THIS bread/fruit and not THAT one etc or this fat and not that fat...I mean if the restaurant doesn't have olive oil OR peanut butter essentially your stuck...and you can't have any protein either...
It might be NOBLE to go "good fat/carb - lean proteins only", but it will leave you hungry...and why bother when Atkins works just fine.
I do not believe sat fat is bad.
I do not believe that fiber is filling (enough).
