Default FitDay question

I have a question about FitDay. I just entered in all the food I've eaten today so far. It seems to me that is only lists the total carbs, and not the net carbs. Is there any way of calculating just the net carbs?

I just started Atkins on Monday. I'm hungry all the time. I'm guessing it was because I wasn't drinking enough water.

Have you read the books? Atkins For Life tells you how to figure net carbs, which is basically starting out with the overall carbs and subtracting the fiber in the food. So for example, say something you eat has 5 carbs, but 3 grams of fiber, the net carbs will be 2.

Hmmm, hungry all the time? Then you are doing something wrong. Are you starting out your day with a big breakfast? And I do mean big! Try a couple of eggs and four to six slices of bacon. You want about 70% of you calories to be coming from fat, about 3 to 4% will come from carbs (at least on induction) and the remainder from protein.

Drinking water is always a good thing, but you should feel full from eating, not bloated from water.

Also, check the 'Activities' section of your FitDay. There you'll see what your 'basal' calorie burn is, and your total calorie intake should be somewhere between your basal burn and 10 times your body weight. So for example, you should easily be able to eat up to 1700 calories a day and still lose weight. My basal is 1735, so I try to make sure I eat between 1500 and 2000 calories a day, and this is working very well.

My breakfast consists of 3 jumbo eggs scrambled in with chopped corned beef and a little cheddar cheese.

hi there,

"Today's Foods" list does only show total carbs ... usually rounded UP to the nearest whole number. But if you look at the "Calories Eaten Today" chart at the top, you'll see that it lists the carbs with fiber grams right below.

You'll also see that the calories for carbs only include the net carbs, not fiber.

Just a note .. if you're feeling hungry, then you should eat Have protein snacks .. a piece of cheese, hard-boiled egg, a slice of cold roast meat or a chicken leg. Dip it in a bit of mayo or some dijon mustard Some folks find it helps to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals through the day, rather than 2 or 3 larger meals spread further apart.

Drinking lots of water is good regardless

hth,

Doreen
