Default Indigestion Elimination!

I have had severe heartburn and indigestion for many years. I took double doses of Tagamet for about five years and then the doctor put me on a prescription Zantac which worked about half of the time. When it didn't work, I had to take 6 to 8 Tums at night just to get back to sleep, spending many nights in the recliner.
I had one night of heartburn/indigestion about the 3rd or 4th night of induction, and bought a jar of sugar-free Tums the next day. However, I didn't have any more episodes. About two weeks ago I was flipping through the DANDR and found this in the Q&A section:

Q: I get heartburn on diets. What do I do?
A: Go on this diet (Atkins) immediately. Nothing clears up on this diet more predictably than heartburn. (p284)

Since then I have forgone the prescription medication and have not had one hint of indigestion or heartburn. WHAT A RELIEF! I mean, this was a major medical problem with me. I thought for sure I was going to hae cancer of the esophogus or something... it amazes me.
Anyone else experience this? Anyone want to buy a bottle of sugar-free Tums? mad

Default heartburn

I used to get heartburn regularly... I bought maalox by the gallon... kept a bottle at work and one at home... Started developing acid reflux in February of this year. It was nasty. Both have gone away... I noticed the heartburn first... then the acid reflux. I still have indicrimate burping (I think that is a sign of candida) but not as much as it used to be. I am so happy not to experience either of the above medical maladies. Checking into the burping later this week at my annual check up.

Glad you've found this WOE... It beats medication any day!!!

Acid Reflux... that was the term I was looking for. Isn't it amazing that it goes away on this diet? And all this time I thought it was the red meat that was causing it... go figure.

Default Heartburn gone!

Yes, I experienced it too. A friend told me that a dietician/nutritionist told her it was because the excess carbs cause a ph imbalance & the stomach produces more acid to balance it out...
It's just great!!!! Eating hot sauce, using cream, eating all sorts of good foods and no heartburn!
