Default why do carbs cause gas/bloating???

OK, after doing really well on the lc-ing I took abreak and had too many carbs. Bagels, ice cream and since that happened I have been so full of gas and very bloated.

Can anyone tell me why that happens? I remember hearing an interview with Suzanne Somers one time and she said that since she quit eatin bread, she hadn't had gas in a long time. I'm curious as to what causes that.

Thanks for info on a very embarrassing subject!!!

Charlene

When grains, especially wheat, sugars, and yeast are processed in the digestive tract, the by-product is gas. Our bodies have not evolved to the point where we can digest these foods as well as others like pure protein.

My husband is thrilled that I've experienced this wonderful side effect. Before Atkins, my flatulence could have stopped a charging rhino in his tracks!!!
