Question Cocktails - low carb ones? Any out there?

I know that I shouldn't really be posting this one - but I just thought that someone may know of any low carb cocktail recipes... My hubby had a coctail shaker etc for Christmas and we therefore had to use it (of course) but to my peril as Margarita's and Bailey's Irish cream are absolutley loaded with carbs.... Anyone out there with low carb ideas on these luvverley delish cocktails without too many carbs???????
ta muchly with anticipation and an empty cocktail glass in my hand...

When looking for a change from the standard G&T, or V&T, I concocted a cocktail while on vacation recently.

Tall glass of ice, jigger of vodka, club soda, and an oz. or so of Atkins strawberry syrup. Lemon, orange, or raspberry syrup would work as well. Quite wonderful if I say so myself. Guess you could also add a smidge of heavy cream to it too. HMMMMM, maybe I'll try that next....

I'm not sure if it's a cocktail but a Bloody Mary is very low in carbs (vodka and tomato juice).

You need a blender for this one. Pineapple or tropical flavored drink mix (Kool-Aid, Crystal Light) or Jello (sugar free, of course, and use the mix dry, adding a little water while blending if necessary), crushed ice, coconut milk, sweetener to taste. Rum optional. Makes a decent Pina Colada.

Oh, and someone posted some recipes for homemade LC Kahlua and Bailey's. The search function ought to pull them up.

Cheers,

Friday

Default Beer

I don't know much about cocktails, but there is a new low carb beer I have noticed at the grocery store. I do not even remember the name, but I saw it at BI-LO and another store. Have not tried it either.

Default raspberry margaritas

I made these on the weekend and they are sooooooooooo yummy,I couldnt drink them slowly.I mixed a package of lemon and a package of lemon lime chrystal lite with only half the water the package calls for.i then filled my blender about 2/3 full of ice, added 2 shots tequila and 2 shots triple sec (or gin) then added about a cup to 1&1/2 cups of the lime juice, one cup of frozen raspberries and about 2 shots of sugar free raspberry davinci.OMG,the 2 non low carbers that helped me drink them also thought they were awesome. Imagine,a drink that contains our much needed fibre.this recipe makes about 4 drinks. ENJOY

Thank you guys
I certainly shall be trying out the yummy recipes posted here
xcarbs what is chrystal lite? is it a jelly mix?
RCFLetcher I completley forgot about Bloody Mary's silly me
I found the recipes for the Kahlua and Baileys and shall endeavour to make them to try...
Although I am sooo partial to the Margarita's, my hubs make it with tequila (1.5 carbs), lime juice (2 carbs), triple sec (? carbs) and salt so therefore not too bad is it? 3.5 carbs all in all - that is if my reckoning is right...got the calories from calorieking.com
thanks again and cheers!

Ms. Fine,

A warning here about those margaritas. As a liqueur, Triple Sec is like Cointreau and loaded with sugar - use with caution! I believe it has about 7 gr. carb per oz.

Crystal Light is a sugar free drink mix. It would make a dandy substitute for lime juice and lower carb too.

One other thought. Have you considered a beer and diet lemon/lime soft drink mixture? I had an English friend years back who it a shandy.

Cheers!

On netrition they have a new low carb Margarita mix. Along with some other drink mixes like daquaries I think.

An idea:

For flavored liquors, try using a plain spirit and adding SF Da Vinci.

Plain rum + Coconut Da Vinci = Malibu Rum
Plain vodka + tons of flavors = fun vodkas!

The possibilities are endless.

I like to have some drinks once in a while. I drink rum and diet coke, Premium gin and soda w/ lime and I add a little bit of splenda to sweeten it. Michelob Ultra-once in a while-depends on the carbs I have had for the day. They are now selling little cans of Michelob Ultra-Only 2.2 carbs per can. I just bought the drink mixes off of Atkins- I am going on a cruise and don't want to be left out. I really love those frozen margarita and daiquiri's. Yummy! Someone said in another thread that rum, low carb chocholate syrup, and heavy cream makes a good mock Baileys.

The Peach flavor of Davinci Syrups (link) is quite tasty. I tart it up with lime juice and mix with vodka or rum, then dilute with Perrier to desired strength - cool and refreshing.
