hi. i have posted here a few times before. jmonths ago. we moved and i have been without a computer and i stopped LCing. bad idea!!
anyway, i was diagnosed woth PCOS last april and my dh and i have been trying to have a kid since last jan. anyway, during our move we found out that we were pregnant. we were shocked because it finally worked. i was taking clomid for quite a while and it finally paid off. i was finally regular and we were able to plan things out somewhat.
moving on to my question. does anyone know about the statistics of miscarriages while taking clomid or by having PCOS? i was asked that question and i had no answer. what i have been hearing from everyone is that we now know that we can get pregnant. we will just have to be watched a little better. we think the reason that i miscarried was because of hormone levels. geez, the story of my life!
thanks for any imput. i appreciate it! bye!

I don't know if this helps at all, but I have had 2 miscarraiges and 3 healthy children all the time while I had PCOS. I didn't realize I had PCOS for over 15 years and have been diagnosed recently. I would suggest that you get some regular exercise if you don't already do so. When I look back, I realize each time that I got pregnant was when I was moderately exercising and eating balanced meals. There is a connection that I didn't realize until I look back and analyze. Good Luck TTC.

I found this at WebMD.com. Clomiphene (Clomid) In the article it warns NOT to take clomid if you are pregnant or suspect you're pregnant. It also says clomid is known to cause birth defects. If you haven't stopped taking it yet, call your doctor immediately and ask what you should do!

thanks for writing you guys. actually i got pregnant due to the clomid. we moved about a week after conception and then i hadn't taken any at all. becuase of our move i wasn't able to get to a doctor until we settled, so i wouldn't have been able to get clomid anyway.
thanks for your comments!

Congrats on your pregnancy... I too am insulin resistant and have had two miscarriages (11 weeks & 19 weeks) but my losses were from an autoimmune disease, not from my insulin resistance...

I began this WOE because of cysts a bit under a year before we conceived, but one ovary still looked polycystic at our first ultrasound at 5 weeks...

One thing that I wanted to mention is that our baby's kidney's have been dilated since before week 17... The doc said this is from too much sugar and/or carb intake... Sounds crazy considering I've been controlling my carbs throughout this pregnancy, but I guess it just adds to the revelation that I am in fact insulin resistant...

So just a warning, it's something you might want to watch out for... Otherwise, with the baby aspirin for the autoimmune disease, this pregnancy has been wonderful...

Best wishes to you...

well congrats to you on your pregnancy. i don't think that my husband and i are ready to try again. i want to get to a good weight first and let my body recover from the miscarriage. i also am not ready to get back on clomid and have all of the doctors visits. i hope that your pregnancy goes smoothly. my girlfriend just had her baby girl amonth ago, after going through all of this too! PCOS and cysts and everything. so it's always great to hear the positive sides! take care and i hope all goes well!
