Default Whey protein stability in water

Hi there, I remember reading that once you mix whey protein into a liquid it should be used up within an hour because it becomes unstable or something.
Is there any truth to that?
I was hoping to mix up some shakes to drink throughout the day but don't want to have the liquid sitting there if if shouldn't be.

Meg

Yeah what Shelly said. It seperates and gets really gross at the top if you just shake them and leave them sitting around.

You could try mixing with a blender (mixes better then just hand shaking them) and keep them in the fridge for a few hours and they'll be fine. Then just pour them into cups with covers so you can reshake them for about 30 seconds before you drink them. I've done that before and they have stayed pretty thick. Might even work with a spoon depending on what kind of mix you use.

but it doesn't go bad or grow bacteria or anything...?

I doubt it will be still for long enough to get icky on the top, it's just the sanity of it I'm worried about.

thanks for the responses!

Don't worry, they won't make you go insane if you eat them at a later time!
