Default Carbs in Pizza

Hi Folks:

We are meeting some friends tonight at the local pizza joint. We have done this a few times since I have been on this WOE and I usually just order a small pizza and scrape off the toppings. I was thinking tonight I might have a couple of slices, without eating the crust at the beginning but still eating the bread on the bottom. With the pizza sauce, how many carbs do you think are in a slice of thin crust pepporoni pizza if I don't eat the big crust at the end? My plan is to not eat any carbs the rest of the day and a couple of slices should keep me within my 30 for the day. What do you think? Mike

if you plan on eating some of the bread, maybe get your pizza without sauce since a lot of times they put sugar in the sauce ... if you pile on vegis and some meat, you probably wont miss the sauce anyway and youll save a few carbs to eat a little bread with

I looked up "white pizza" on fitday - no sauce and for 1 piece it says 29.47 grams of carbs. I'd personally stick with eating the toppings only -- I know, myself, if I ate one piece of pizza, I'd eat the crust, have another piece and order a beer, lol.

This may just be me but I hadn't had any bread products in over a year. So, in August while on vaction, I had one small piece of warm freshly baked bread. My tummy hurt for two days. It felt like somebody dropped a lead ball in my tummy. So, it will be at least another year before I think of bread.

Hey Mike, check it out on fitday. It has "thin crust, pizza, various toppings and you can do it BY INCH!" I know fitday isn't perfect, but I occasionally eat pizza and usually end up eating a little of the crust. It always helps me to have a BIG salad on the side. Much easier to fill up on, and is great with the pizza. Enjoy yourself!

I have been craving real, real thin crust pizza (the kind that comes out of the brick oven and crunches when you bite into it) but thought it would have too many carbs. If regular pizza is 21 carbs, thin crust (without eating the fat crust part) should only be about 10 - 12 carbs, maybe less. I only ever ate 2 pieces anyway.

I'm so excited!

Please burst my bubble is you think my count is way off. (Only if you know what real thin crust pizza is. I don't think you can get it everywhere. Pizza in the NY/NJ area rocks!)

Barb

I had a hot dog bun a while back and I had a stomachache for the next day. Just make sure it's worth it...maybe start with one slice and see what it does to you.
Eating out at a pizza place is a beast of a thing...usually they have an antipasto and that makes me happy enough, especially since I can make my own pizza with portabello mushroom caps as a crust, and they ROCK!

O.k. You guys shamed me into not having the bread I went to the pizza place and had a small pizza with everything but peppers, onions, and tomato and scraped the top off half of it and ate it and was stuffed! Funny, I used to be able to eat a medium WITH the bread without a problem... now, only half of a small without the bread fills me up. Thanks for the support. Mike
