Question Question for those who have reached their goal or big losers???

I have been at this for a long time now. My question is this; when you got close to your goal did you count every carb and calorie or did you just simply eat LC and not worry about it.

I find that if I count carb/cals then I weigh all the time and feel bad about myself when the scale does not move. I keep this feeling about me that I can't have cetain foods.

But, if I just go through my day and eat LC healthy foods and tell myself that I am happy at my current weight then I am not worried about the foods that I can't have.

Any advice...

Thanks,
kat

Kat, take a visit over in the Pre maintainance/maintanance thread. Scroll through some older posts, there is all kinds of good advice, about getting close to goal and adding foods etc.

Congrats on your loss!!

Kathy

I've been maintaining for 14 months, and I have to count carbs and calories daily.

I have lost about 60 lbs. and although I am still far from goal, I have not been counting carbs or calories. I am losing slowly but I have found that if I dont snack as much, even the allowable ones, I do better.

I keep an eye on carbs these days, keeping it under 50 a day mostly from veggies. I don't strictly measure like I did on the induction days.

I have never counted calories.

I counted daily using fitday. Once I got to goal i switched to fitday pc but I still count. Odly enough the carbs dont seem to mater as much as the clalories these days but I still count.

I don't keep track of either.

I've been maintaining for 7 months now and I know what I can and can not eat...and it works for me. I have 5 lbs I "play" with. When I hit that 5 lb gain I know I need to back off on some of the extras such as whole grain breads or my weekly potato.

I don't worry about my caloric intake...it's too much work and keeping track of either carbs or cals has gotten boring for me.

I do things similiar to shellslyn. I know what I can and cannot have, and just stay within those boundries. I don't count every carb like I used to. I just know what to eat and not eat. It has worked for me. I have maintained for almost a year now.

I think that counting is good at least while trying to lose, but if you can lose and not count everything then thats great!

I wish I didn't have to worry about the carbs and calories so much but I do...using fitday is just second nature to me now....been using it daily for close to 10 months now.
