Question Lemon water

Somewhere on a low-carb message board I saw a reference to lemon water as an even more effective diuretic than lots of plain water. Has anyone seen this? I'd like to know the proportion of lemon juice to water and how much of this you're supposed to drink.

I add lemon to my water just to improve the taste. Sometimes lime, too. I don't know about its diuretic qualities - I'd be interested to find out - but remember lemon does have carbs, about 1 per tablespoon. I use about a tablespoon to flavour 2 quarts of water. If you use more, the carbs will add up pretty quickly.

Default Lemon Water

Good idea, Rachel. I'm going to make a container right now for my daily 2 quarts tomorrow.

Yup, lemon juice is a great diuretic. Years ago I would use 1 wedge, about 1/6 or 1/8 in 1 glass of water. Squeeze it well. It's great in hot water, which brings out the oil & flavour in the skin.

Tomorrow I'm gonna go get some lemons Ruth

Default Lemon water--yuk!

Well, the lemon water tasted okay but an hour or two later I started to feel queasy and I thought I was coming down with something. Took me a while to figure out it must have been the lemon water. Switched back to plain water and felt much better.
