Default burning of the behind

Dear Members -- The real reason I sought you all out is I expect I am going to need support.... I am just starting the atkins induction phase (5 days ago) and I have a burning of the behind like someone rubbed it in acid or something-- the anus if you must know......is this usual when you start the low carb bit? Is there anything to do about it?-- Otherwise I feel great -- no more sleepiness etc. Sincerely, plaidwoman

I've never heard of such a thing. Perhaps it is unrelated.

I was going to suggest diarrhea too, or constipation - especially if you have incipient haemorrhoids. Depending on what kind of eating you've switched from, your BMs could be more acidic, and that could certainly lead to a burning sensation. If it persists more than another week or two, I think I'd check with my doctor if I were you.

Yeah, I had the major 'but t burn' I expected after bowel surgery. The best cure? A&D Ointment or the white diaper rash stuff Desitin or equivalent from Walmart: 40% Zinc Oxide cream. I was ready so it wasn't at all bad

My thoughts are maybe it's somehow yeast related. Try avoiding cheese & deli meats for a few days and let the yeast naturally die off from the diet itself. If you do have a yeast overgrowth, be ready for a heckuva induction flu - hang in there though because you will feel much better in a week.
