Default Odd, been extra hungry..

Really odd but been extra hungry and can't figure out why, Im not craving sugar, just food. I am eating larger portions than I normally eat, (like 30% more) though to be honest, Im not really snacking anymore in between or binging. its not like that. Its I'm really hungry all of a sudden, eat more than usual. But I am not craving bread or pasta, umm actually craving fatty foods, like sausage and cheese.

My allergies have been bothering me, been feeling run down, maybe allergies and food cravings have something in common, anyone know..

I am talking a antihistamine, would that do it? really wierd. I suppose it will pass, but have been like this for about five days now, and boy am I craving fatty foods? Puzzled?

If you are sick and your body tells you to eat, then listen to your body and EAT.

I am often hungrier when I am tired and your allergies may be making you more tired. It is as though my body is looking for extra food for energy.

I am also often extra hungry right before I drop a couple of pounds -- as though my body is trying to hold onto those last few pounds.

If I think I am unusually hungry, I first try increasing my water consumption to see if that fills me up. Often it does. If I am still hungry, I eat, but I try to choose high-protein foods because they have greater staying power for me.

Looking at your statistics, if you haven't found the Triple Digits Club yet you might want to check it out. It is listed under Lowcarb Support Focus Groups on the homepage of this forum and is for people with over 100 pounds to lose. You started out at that point, so you might find some helpful information there.

Dave, that just happened to me the first of this week. Turned out it was probably just PMS. Guess that can't be the case with you!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

same here. I try to restrict myself even though they're low carb. I know i shouldnt so i try and distract myself by doing things. SOmetimes i can't. So, i just eat a meal and it fills me up for a few hours and just wait till the next one.

I hear ya buddy. Sometimes I think that the part of my brain that controls appetite needs a tune up. My appetite fluctuates like CRAZY!!

I also agree with those who said you eat more when you're tired. I spent many years working 2 jobs, and I was always tired and hungry, and overweight. It was all I could do to keep going, and had no emotional strength or extra will to diet.

Another thought; if you're HOME with illness, it may be boredom. I find that if I'm home, and off my regular schedule, I can just fall into the habit of eating more; I'm so close to the fridge :-) I wish I could say I do this all the time, but I also try drinking a HUGE glass of water when I'm in one of those huge appetite phases. It works quite well.....if I can just remember to do it regularly.

Eating phases are interesting, and I NEVER have a whoosh afterward!!!
